In the period 1937-1939 there was a scheme that collected local folklore stories and history through articles written by pupils at national schools. Over 50,000 children took part in this project resulting in over 288,000 pages. The original documents are stored in the National Folklore collection at UCD.
However there has been a project to digitise the pages and make them available online. The articles written by pupils at Welchtown and Stranorlar schools in the 1930’s are available at the links below.
