Sunday 5th March 2023 – Nicodemus Read: John 3:1-17

Nicodemus was a very important man. He was a Pharisee, but he was also a member of the Jewish Ruling council. For him to talk to Jesus was a big deal. Other people would have been really annoyed about it. But Nicodemus was curious – he wanted to know more so went to see Jesus at night when no one would see him. Nicodemus had a lot of questions and wanted to make sure he understood everything that Jesus said. It is important to ask questions, even if people may not always have the answers.

At the end Jesus says one of the most famous Bible passages – “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” God loved us so much that he sent his own son to die for us – that is true love!

Watch:

Who went to see Jesus? Why did he go? What did he want to know? Why did he go at night? What

did Jesus tell him? I wonder how Nicodemus felt after talking to Jesus?

Pray: Dear God, help us to use Lent as a time of preparation for Easter. Give us courage to ask questions when we don’t understand. Amen

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day. Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (Taken from Praying Together)
