Sunday 6th March 2022 – Jesus is Tempted

Many thanks to Kirsty for putting this together A printer friendly version is available at http://www.stranorlar.raphoe.anglican.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/6th-March-Jesus-is-tempted.pdf

ReadLuke 4:1-13

After Jesus had been baptised, he went into the wilderness where the devil tempted him for 40 days. The devil tempted Jesus by asking him to turn stones into bread – Jesus refused and said, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’ The devil tried to tempt Jesus again, he showed him all the kingdoms of the world and said if you worship me, all of this will be yours. Jesus had an answer again and said, ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’ Finally, the devil took Jesus to the tallest point of the temple and told Jesus to throw himself off the building and God will send angels to rescue him. For the third time Jesus used scripture and said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’

Jesus had been tempted but was able to resist – we can follow the example of Jesus and try our best to resist temptation.

Where was Jesus when he was tempted? Who tempted him? What did he ask Jesus to do? What did

Jesus use to stop the devil? What can we learn from this?

Burying the Alleluia – During lent we do not use Alleluia in our worship but on Easter Sunday, we use it a lot as a celebration of Jesus being alive! Using the free poster from illustrated ministry

https://www.illustratedministry.com/2020/alleluia-poster-easter/ can you hide the alleluia during lent and celebrate on Easter Sunday by displaying the posters in Church?

Pray: God help me to follow the example Jesus set for us. Amen

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day. Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (Taken from Praying Together)
