Read: Mark 10:17-21

A rich young man approached Jesus and asked what he needed to do to have eternal life. Instead of Jesus telling him a simple way, Jesus asked did he know the commandments. Jesus knew that there was more to the story than this, so he told the young man to sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor. Now this young man was really rich with a lot of things! He thought about it for a few minutes but decided he simply couldn’t do it. Jesus used this to teach his disciples a lesson – we need to put Jesus first – ahead of our possessions, money, and everything else. We need to give up our hang ups and focus on Jesus. It is not easy to follow Jesus, but it is worth it!

The Rich Young Ruler – Bible Story from Kids on the Move

What did the rich man ask Jesus? What did Jesus answer? What are the commandments? What did the rich man tell Jesus about knowing the commandments? What else did Jesus ask him to do? Why could the rich man not do it? What can we learn from this?

Pray: Jesus help me to put your first. Amen

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day

Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (Taken from Praying Together).
