• Palm Sunday:
Read: Mark 11:1-11 People would not have expected Jesus, a King, to enter Jerusalem on a donkey. Instead they would have been expecting a white stallion and lots of pomp and ceremony. People came and gathered, stood and shouted Hosanna, waved palm branches and even laid their coats on the ground for the donkey to walk on. They knew this was important and wanted to be part of it. Jesus recognises that this is a special day – a day of rejoicing because an amazing rescue is about to happen and the crowd don’t even know it! Palm Sunday is the start of a very important week – it is called Holy Week and is when Christians think about all that happened to Jesus in the run up to Easter.

What was so special about the donkey? Why do you think everyone came to see Jesus? We haveheard about the Pharisees before -how do you think they would be feeling now?

Pray:
Palm Sunday (taken from Praying Together) Lord Jesus, on Palm Sunday you rode into Jerusalem as King.
Remind us to keep you as King of our lives. You rode on a donkey,
Remind us of your humility and keep us from being proud or boastful.
The crowds shouts ‘Hosanna! Save us!’ Remind us that we need you as our Saviour. The people spread palm branches and coats in front of you,
Remind us to lay our lives before you.
You kept going on to Jerusalem even though you knew what was ahead.
Remind us to keep going when it’s tough. Whenever we feel discouraged or down, remind us of your love for us. Amen
Healing –
Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day.
Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen
