Kirsty has out together some resources themed around the Bible readings for Sunday 22nd November. It is available at https://www.derryandraphoe.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/22nd-November-Sheep-and-Goats.pdf

Read: Matthew 25:31-46
When telling this story Jesus wanted people to realise that the time was coming to separate those who have lived their lives generously and those who had closed their hearts to the needs of others. God cares for us and loves us. He wants us to show this love to others in lots of different ways. Jesus uses a shepherd sorting his sheep and goats to explain what he means. The people are divided into those who have helped others, showed compassion, and put others first and those who have been selfish and ignored others. What is most surprising is that God does not only pay attention to the big things people have done but the small, random acts of kindness that others may not have even noticed they were doing. How can we show God’s love to others?

Sheep and Goats from LifeKids

What good things have the ones on the king’s right hand done? Did they plan to do all these things? Why do you think the people on the left didn’t help others? How can we do things to help God today?

Pray:

Dear God, help me to be more like the sheep who follow you, loving others and caring always. Amen.

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day.
Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (taken from Praying Together)

Perform a random act of kindness for someone – it could be donating something to the local foodbank, helping more at home without being asked, drawing a picture for someone. Be creative and find something to bless others with.
