Today is another special day in the Church Calendar. Today is Advent Sunday, or the first Sunday of Advent. Throughout Advent we count down the days and weeks to a very special day – Christmas Day. We have 4 weeks to plan and prepare for Christmas. In our reading today we hear Jesus explaining that we do not know the time or hour when he will come again, but we should always be prepared because it will happen. We do know when Christmas will be and can take the four weeks of Advent to prepare – not just prepare presents, food, and the fun things, but to prepare ourselves to welcome Jesus and celebrate his birth. Use the season of Advent to read and learn more about the nativity story.

Pray:
/Heavenly Father, through this season of Advent, we prepare for our Christmas celebrations of the birth of your Son Jesus Christ.
In all the bust times help us to see the importance of your love for us. Show us new ways to share the message of your love for all people. We pray this in the name of Jesus, whose coming we eagerly await. Amen. (Taken from Praying Together)
Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day. Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (Taken from Praying Together)
Share: Make a list of different things to do during Advent – sing some carols, visit some friends, read the Christmas story from the Bible – enjoy preparing for Christmas.
