Read: John 16:12-15
Today is called Trinity Sunday. Today we think about God the father, God the son, and God the Holy
Spirit. Each one is unique and separate but all still God. It is very confusing! God is three in one. It is
not three Gods but one God with three distinct aspects. St. Patrick is said to have used a shamrock to
explain the trinity – there are three leaves, just like there are three parts of the trinity, but they all
come from the one stem. They are all God. It is important to remember God as three persons
because as God the Father he made everything, as God the Son, he saved us and as God the Holy
Spirit he lives in us today.

Who did the jug of water represent? Who did the ice cubes represent? Who did the steam
represent? How does this show what the trinity is like?

Three-in-one pictures –

Using only the number three 3 and the number one 1 create a drawing which
contains as many objects or people as possible. Perhaps the children could do this as two teams with
large sheets of paper.
For example, two threes together and a one could become a tree. Or a three on its side might be a
bird in the sky etc

Pray: Dear God. We know that we cannot fully understand how great and wonderful you really are.
But we thank you for revealing yourself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (a Trinity of persons)
even though you are still one. Help us to learn more about you and the great love you have for each
one of us.

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day.
Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen
