Palm Sunday:
Read: Luke 19:28-40 Jesus was getting ready to celebrate the Passover with his friends, and was heading into Jerusalem with them. Before he entered the city he sent two disciples ahead of him and told them exactly what they would find and when the men entered the city the found the donkey just as Jesus had told them. As Jesus was entering the city there was party atmosphere a celebration everyone cheered and shouted for Jesus. Of course this made the pharisees angry and they told Jesus to tell everyone to be quiet. Jesus told them even if the people were quiet the stones would still shout out – there would still be shouts of Hosanna! Palm Sunday is the start of a very important week – it is called Holy Week and is when Christians think about all that happened to Jesus in the run up to Easter.

Why is Passover celebrated? Where was the donkey? What did the disciples say to the owner?
Why did Jesus ride on a donkey? What did the people shout?

Pray:
Palm Sunday (taken from Praying Together)
Lord Jesus, on Palm Sunday you rode into Jerusalem as King.
Remind us to keep you as King of our lives. You rode on a donkey,
Remind us of your humility and keep us from being proud or boastful.
The crowds shouts ‘Hosanna! Save us!’
Remind us that we need you as our Saviour.
The people spread palm branches and coats in front of you,
Remind us to lay our lives before you.
You kept going on to Jerusalem even though you knew what was ahead.
Remind us token going when it’s tough.
Whenever we feel discouraged or down, remind us of your love for us. Amen
Healing –
Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day.
Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen
