ReadLuke 6:17-26

A large crowd of people had gathered to hear Jesus speak, so he went to the side of a mountain and started to talk! Jesus explained all about God’s love, the Kingdom of God and lots of other things. To start with Jesus used the Beatitudes. These are promises that God made to his people – he would always be with us. God promises that no matter what is happening in our lives we can be sure of his love and the reward we will get in heaven. Even when we are mourning (sad), standing up for what we believe in, or being insulted by other people because of our beliefs God will be with us, comforting us, making us feel better and being sure we do not face anything alone!

Read Luke 6:17-26 and Matthew 5:1-12. Using these two versions can you think of who Jesus might have been talking about? Can you give modern day examples?

Pray: Thank you for always keeping your promises. Amen

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day. Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (Taken from Praying Together)

Share – Keep practising the Beatitudes song and actions.
