Jesus was getting ready to leave Jericho and as usual lots of people had gathered to see and listen to him. There was a blind man at the side of the road called Bartimaeus. He heard that Jesus was coming and knew this was his chance. He started shouting – ‘Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me!’ All around him people told him to be quiet and not to annoy Jesus. But instead of being quiet he just shouted louder and louder! Jesus stopped and called out to Bartimaeus, ‘what do you want me to do to help you?’ Bartimaeus replied ‘Rabbi, I want to be able to see.’ Jesus simply said ‘Go, your faith has healed you.’ Right away Bartimaeus could see and followed Jesus along the road.

Watch

Where was Jesus going? Who was shouting out? What did he shout? What did the people tell him? Why did people tell him to be quiet? What did Bartimaeus do next? How did Jesus respond? How did he heal him? What happened to Bartimaeus next?

Pray: God thank you that Bartimaeus never gave up! Amen.

Father in heaven watch over our loved ones.
Keep them by your side.
May they be safe and peaceful, in you may they abide.
Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses too we pray,
renew their strength and bless them for the work they do each day.

Send healing and restoration and let them feel your love.
May your Holy Spirit give them rest as gentle as a dove. Amen (taken from Praying Together)
