Sunday 5th September – Jesus Heals
Read: Mark 7:31 –37
Jesus was travelling with his disciples and as he travelled people became more aware of what he could do. People brought lots of sick friends and relatives to Jesus to be healed. In todays reading we learn about a man who could not hear or speak. His friends begged Jesus to heal him. Jesus took the man to a quiet place and put his finger into his ears, and he spat on his hand and put it on the mans tongue (gross!). Most importantly though Jesus looked up to heaven and said ‘Ephphatha’ which means be opened.Immediately the man was able to hear and talk. His ears and mouth had really been opened! Now this was a true miracle and everyone who saw it wanted to tell others –but Jesus wasn’t ready for that just yet so he asked the people not to say anything –it’s no surprise to hear that this was too good not to share with others so everyone told and the word of Jesus miracles kept spreading.

What do you think the man he healed would have said? Why do you think Jesus told people not to tell anyone? Do you think you would have listened to Jesus or would you have told everyone?
