• Tuesday – A Woman Pours Perfume on Jesus at Bethany – John 12:1-11

Read: read the story of the perfume offering. Jesus and his friends were at the house of a man called Simon. A woman appears with very expensive perfume and pours it over Jesus’ head. The guests are really annoyed and think the woman is being wasteful – perfume at the time of Jesus was a real luxury and came in big ceramic jars – once you opened it there was no way of sealing it again. The woman had probably been saving it for a very long time. Unlike the other guests Jesus was not annoyed – he knew that he was going to die, and maybe she was the only person in room to understand the significance of the next few days. She was giving Jesus a gift – and one he

thought everyone should know about – now we know about it too!

Pray: The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us each day our daily bread,
and forgive us our tresspasses,
as we forgive those who tresspass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
