Read: Mark 9:2-9
Jesus had been amazing the disciples with all the things he had been saying and doing. They had heard interesting stories and been witnesses to many miracles. But Jesus had recently started talking a lot more about death and suffering. Jesus knew the time was coming for Gods rescue plan to
happen and wanted to prepare the disciples for this. Jesus took three of his disciples to the mountaintop where something amazing was going to happen. While he was there Jesus appearance changed completely – it was as if all the light of heaven was shining through him. Moses and Elijah
appeared with him as well. The disciples were astonished, and Peter wanted the moment to last forever – he wanted to build shelters for everyone to stay on the mountain. This was not possible – there is no way to keep God in one place. Gods voice spoke again saying ‘This is my Son and I love him – Listen to him!’ This was a reminder for the disciples and Jesus as to who Jesus was and what he was going to do. This is called the Transfiguration.

(Kids on the move)
Why did Jesus pick those disciples to go up the mountain? What happened to Jesus appearance? Who appeared beside him? What did this mean? What did Peter want to do and why? Why did Jesus not want the disciples to tell people about what had happened? How would you have felt if you had
been on the mountain?

for the transfiguration to share with someone else?
